This annual celebration of the railroads includes tours, demonstrations, guest speakers and steam-powered excursions and a program of live entertainment. This year’s event theme is “A Celebration of Railroading.”

This national park is home to a Technology Museum and History Museum exploring the people, history, technology and lore of steam railroading. The museums include images, artifacts, films, restored freight and passenger cars and a sectioned steam locomotive. Also find a functioning locomotive shop focused on restoration, Scranton Limited train rides and special event excursions to Carbondale, Moscow, Gouldsboro, Tobyhanna, Stroudsburg, the Tunkhannock Viaduct and beyond. Railfest is held annually on Labor Day weekend. 2011 Fee Free days include: April 16-24, June 21, September 2, and November 11-13.
