  • Natural Wonders: For the Birds

    One of six in a series of discovery-based classes exploring the natural world through stories, art and outdoor excursions. Intended for children ages 3-5 accompanied by a guardian. Learn about birds unique adaptations and go on a walk searching for your "fine feathered friends." Classes run every other Thursday through June 7.

  • Riverfest 2012

    The Lackawanna River Corridor Association presents its annual celebration of the river with canoe and kayak races and a festival at the finish line featuring live music. Also enjoy children's activities, educational displays, food and refreshemnts for sale, award presentations, and more. Launch sites for the Canoe-A-Thon are the David Maslyar Park on Laurel Street in Archbald and Robert Mellow Park in Peckville-Blakely. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Launching begins at 10 a.m. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the Blakely location with advance registration or participants are welcome to bring your own.

  • The Delaware Highlands Mushroom Society

    Members will discuss the year's calendar of mushroom walks and events, along with other business. Mushroom stories will be shared, and some basic information about mushroom identification will be offered. Anyone with an inclination to learn about mushrooms is encouraged to join.

    Offering five vegan bread choices from two local bakers and vegan baked goods as well as gluten free options of bread and wraps. Fig uses organic fruits, veggies, greens, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices (local when available) in its vegetarian, vegan and raw dishes. The menu features six homemade salad dressings, pesto and hummus, salads and sandwiches, and natural, hormone free, antibiotic free turkey and chicken. Also find a fresh juice bar serving dairy-free smoothies and organic coffees and teas.
